Fire at Karachi slum extinguished

KARACHI: Dozens of straw houses and goods worth millions of rupees were ablaze when fire erupted in slum area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi on Thursday, ARY News reported.

According to reports, the straw houses in a slum area near Bait-ul-Mukarram Masjid caught fire for unknown reason, which later spread to other adjoining areas.  Two persons got injured in the blaze.

Rescue teams and ambulances reached to the scene with delay due to tight security and traffic jams caused by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Karachi.  The firefighters after the two hours long struggle extinguished the fire.

The household goods and food items worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes in the fire.
