The fire erupted at first in a warehouse in Lyari’s Agra Taj Colony and within a short span of time, it spread to nearby shops and consumed them. SIx fire brigades had reached the place of the incident and were busy battling the flames. After an initial struggle, the flames were contained after two hours.
The exact cause of the fire could not be identified. Owing to the flames, the entire stock kept at the warehouse was burned. Police and law enforcement agencies were also present on the scene, to cope up with any untoward situation.
Fortunately, the fire was unable to consume any life however, shopkeepers alleged that the fire brigades had arrived late. A protest demonstration was also lead by them in this regard.
