Firing at PTI rally in Jhelum injures 8

JHELUM: A firing at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally in Jhelum has left at least eight activists injured, ARY News reported Sunday.

The PTI rally was targeted near Garmala where it was heading towards the rally venue.

PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhary, while talking to ARY News, alleged that PML-N’s former parliamentarian Nadeem Khadim has ordered his goons to target the PTI caravan, for reasons better known to him. “He opened fire when the rally was passing by the area.”

He said eight are injured while two of them are critically injured.

On the other side, Khadim has rejected the allegation, saying his house, which was situated in route of the rally was first fired upon by PTI workers. Then whatever happened was an exchange of fire after his house was attacked, he claimed.

According to ARY News correspondent, the area where the firing incident took place in influenced by PML-N MNA Chaudhary Khadim Hussain.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the incident.
