The national cricketers are undergoing fitness camp at Kakul Military Academy here under the supervision of Pakistan Army soldiers. The two-week duration camp will end on 28th May.
The players will be taught team discipline and how to remain punctual. According to sources, players would have to leave for the boot camp at sunrise and no excuses will be accepted.
It should be noted that the cricketers had undergone the same kind of training programme in 2013 in Abbottabad.
Pakistan test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq’s fitness will be tested during the camp as well.
Several players failed to pass the fitness test which was taken ahead of the fitness camp. Those cricketers, who did not undergo the fitness test, have been advised to participate in the rehabilitation programme
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) preparing to arrange another fitness camp for the cricketers in England’s Hampshire country.
Leg spinner, Yasir Shah has become unfit and is out from the fitness camp. According to PCB sources, the spinner suffering from left knee ailment.
According to reports 30 players are participating in the boot camp. Muhammad Hafeez, Zulfiqar Babar, Imad Wasim and Haris Sohail are not participating owing to injuries however all four players will tour England as members of the squad.
Pakistan will play four Tests, five ODIs and a T20 match during the tour. Green shirts will leave for England a month before the series, on June 14.
Pakistan will also play two ODIs against Ireland after England series.
