The incident occurred inside a house located in Pushta Khara area, where the children were busy reading the lesson assigned by their teacher. They sat on a charpoy placed at the roof of the well.
All of a sudden, the roof collapsed and the children fell into the borehole. Locals on their own rescued 15 children, however five of them died of suffocation under water.
Government staff also reached the spot, yet it was quite late. Machinery was also brought to extract water inside the well, but that too failed to operate, which clearly indicates incompetence of the administration.
