Eight dead in ‘suicide blast’ at MNA’s office in DG Khan

TAUNSA SHARIF: At least eight people were killed when a blast ripped through at an election office of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) MNA in Taunsa Sharif, a tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan district, ARY News reported.

MNA Sardar Amjad Khan Khosa was not present at his election office at the time of blast.

Speaking to media, DPO DG Khan said the blast was a suicide attack. He said hand grenades were also recovered from the MNA’s office following the blast.

The DPO claimed that the police have recovered body of the attacker.

Talking to ARY News, Mr. Khosa said he had never received any life threats from any one. Those killed in the blast also included my close associates, he told.

At least 10 people also sustained injuries in the explosion. Locals said the blast was so heavy that it shattered windowpanes of nearby buildings and damaged vehicles.

Several candidates of local government elections were also present at the office when the blast struck.

A large contingent of police and other law enforcement officials also reached the spot. Two of the injured are in a critical condition, said rescue sources.

Rescue teams were rushed to the spot to help injured shift to the hospital.

It may be noted here that two months ago Punjab home minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada was killed in a suicide attack on his political office in Attock.
