Karachi: Five gang members killed in police encounters

KARACHI: Five accused including gang war operatives were killed in police crackdown against criminals in Karachi, ARY News reported on Saturday.

According to police sources, two members of Uzair Baloch gang were killed in an encounter with police in Machhar Colony. Slain accused were involved in 12 murders, grenade attacks and extortion, police said.

A police party in an encounter in the jurisdiction of Mochko police station killed two members of Shiraz Baloch gang, officials said.

A robber was killed in exchange of fire with police in Gizri area, while another was arrested in injured condition.

The personnel of a secret agency detained five suspects near Mohammadi Ground in Malir-15 area.

Moreover, Garden police in a raid arrested four accused involved in robbing various items from containers and providing the stolen things to the gangs of Baba Ladla, Zahid Ladla, Shiraz Comrade and Wasiullah Lakho in Lyari.

Fake police encounter

Police allegedly killed an innocent youth of Lyari in a fake encounter in Gizri.

The father of the slain young man Zakria Juneejo, has said that his son was arrived from Malaysia last week. He went to ATM for drawing some cash when police killed him in a fake encounter, the father claimed.

He demanded arrest of the accused policemen and registeration of FIR against them.

The police, however, claimed that Zakaria and his accomplices were involved in street crimes. They were looting people when police challenged them and in an encounter Zakaria was killed, while his accomplice was arrested in injured condition.

Further investigation of the incident has been underway, police officials said.
