LONDON: Five people have been injured after an explosion ripped through a block of flats in London on Monday.
Over 65 firefighters, police, ambulance staff and other rescue sources reached the site to battle the blaze and evacuate the residents. The blast took place at a ground floor flat on Ardleigh Green Road in Hornchurch.
Paramedics said the injured people were taken to hospital. While police said there were five casualties with two people taken to hospital, two treated at the scene.
Emergency service teams doused the building with water as smoke poured out of the building.
The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained till filing of this report.
