The police operation was led by SSP Rao Anwar, who often has encounters with terrorists near outskirts of the city.

The cops conducted a raid in the neighbourhood on a tip-off and faced strong armed resistance from the alleged criminals.

In retaliatory fire by the police, five ‘terrorists’ were killed. SSP Malir Rao Anwar claimed that the slain terrorists belonged to banned outfit and were involved in murders of Rangers and police personnel.

He said the criminals had targeted law enforcers near Pirabad and other localities.

Anwar told journalists that terrorists had recently arrived in Karachi to seek shelter.
