Former BPSC chief Ashraf Magsi, two others indicted in corruption case

NAB officials produced Ashraf Magsi in the court in a case of misuse of authority after completion of his remand.

The court framed charges against chairman BPSC Ashraf Magsi and two former directors of the public service commission today. The court indicted Magsi and two former directors Niaz Kakar and Waheed-ur-Rehman for the misuse of powers. All three accused denied charges against them.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 21st.

A corruption reference has been filed with the Accountability Court, Quetta, against Magsi and two ex-deputy directors of the BPSC.

Ashraf Magsi, who was arrested by the NAB in May, facing allegations of illegal recruitment and misuse of powers. Magsi allegedly recruited several officials in various government departments bypassing the rules including his sons and daughters.

Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai had relieved Magsi from the post of the chairman Balochistan Public Service Commission in November 2014.
