Former ISI chief's statement on Bin Laden incorrect, says US

WASHINGTON: Spokeswoman of the United States (US) State Department Jen Psaki has stated that the statements of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lieutenant General (Retd.) Asad Durrani regarding Osama Bin Laden are not correct, ARY News reports.

Jen Psaki, speaking at a press briefing, said that US has no record which could state that the government of Pakistan knew about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden.

Former ISI Chief Lt. Gen (Retd.) Asad Durrani, in an interview to Al-Jazeera, had alleged that the intelligence agency was sheltering the Al-Qaeda chief in order to use him for striking a deal on Afghanistan.

“We still believe that the Pakistani government did not have any information about Bin Laden’s whereabouts”, Psaki stated.

Replying a question she called Durrani’s statement as incorrect.
