The routes along which the shuttle service can be availed by citizens will be from the Parking Plaza to various areas of Saddar.
Owing to the city’s dismal traffic situation, Karachi in general and Saddar in particular, the aim of the shuttle service is to ensure that citizens make maximum use of the parking plaza. In this way, the amount of vehicles on roads will also be reduced, which will cause less traffic in Saddar. Parking along the routes of the shuttle service has been forbidden.
The Lines Area Parking Plaza’s management has also been taken from KMC and handed over to the transport and communication department. The Parking Plaza has been improved, with clean bathrooms, a waiting area and a prayer area constructed already. In the nearby Gul Plaza area, encroachments are also expected to be demolished as a part of this plan to regulate the flow of traffic.
According to a KMC charged parking director, action is being taken to discourage those who park in unapproved parking lanes. Also, he said that only approved parking would be allowed throughout the city.
The shuttle service is being operated on two routes along Saddar. One connects the Parking Plaza with Zainab Market Chowk through the Empress Market and Singer Chowk. The other route runs between the Parking Plaza and Electronics Market via Empress Market and GPO Chowk.
