Gas kit explosion in van kills twelve near Nooriabad

HYDERABAD/KARACHI: Atleast 12 people were killed and several others were injured when a passenger bus caught fire on Karachi- Hyderabad highway, ARY News reported on Sunday.

Eye witnesses claimed that the passenger van en route from Karachi to Hyderabad turned upside down on Karachi-Hyderabad highway near Nooriabad and immediately caught fire.

Initial reports suggested that the reason of fire was a blast in passenger van’s CNG cylinder.

Four charred bodies were recovered from the metal wreckage of the ill fated bus initially, while the death toll rose to 12 in a few hours.

Dead bodies of victims were brought to Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital while injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Government high ups and political leaders expressed their grief over the tragic accident and condoled with the families of victims.

MQM officials visited the injured victims of the blast at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and MQM leader Sufyan Yousuf termed the accident ‘failure’ of Sindh government.
