According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the military’s public affairs wing, Gen Sharif will visit the Corps Headquarters in Karachi and meet the corps commander of the city.
ARY correspondent reported that security was beefed up at the Karachi airport ahead of the arrival of the COAS. The ISPR release said matters pertaining to operation against militants in North Waziristan Zarb-e-Azb would come under discussion in the meeting between the two military high-ups.
The COAS also met the heirs of ASF officials who were martyred in the line of duty in airport attack a month ago. He expressed to continue his resolve to fight against terrorism until complete elimination of terrorists.
On the other side, media reports said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned Governor Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar and Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad in Islamabad. It is learnt that both the governors will convey prime minister’s message to protesting Dr. Tahirul Qadri.
