The wrong map was shown during the programme “Ajj Shahzeb Khanzada ke Sath”, triggering rage on social media where scores of messages blasted Geo for its “anti-state” act.

Geo again creates controversy

Speaking to ARY News, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the GEO programme producer or engineer could have done this by mistake, as internet was rife with such concocted maps.

He, however, said Geo must tender apology on the issue.

People on the social media demanded Geo “to apologize for its act instead of coming up with a clarification”.

Geo response:

The Geo news posted a clarification on twitter account of its programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada ke Sath”

Geo TV, in May 2014, had played Manqabat (religious poetry) in disgraceful manner while featuring reenactment of Veena Malik’s wedding in its morning show, thus hurting religious sentiments of millions of viewers. The episode prompted dozens of people to approach court and Geo was subsequently served notice for its act.

In April 2014, Pakistan’s Defence Ministry had demanded that the licence of Geo News be suspended after it reported that the ISI was behind the shooting of one of Hamid Mir.

The PEMRA had formally shut down Geo News for 15 days and imposed a $101,500 fine.
