Germany, China win in Women’s Hockey World Cup

THE HAGUE: Germany and China won their Women’s Field Hockey World Cup matches in Netherlands capital city The Hague whereas defending champions Argentina were held to a draw against the United States on Tuesday, ARY News reports.

Germany defeated South Africa 3-1 in their Women’s Hockey World Cup match yesterday.

Marle Mavers scored the opening goal of the match for the German side in the 19th minute and Kristina Hillman doubled the lead for the side in the 50th minute. Shelley Russell scored the goal for the South African in the 64th minute whereas Mavers scored her second of the match in the 65th minute to seal the victory.

Two goals from Yang Peng helped China trounce England by 3-0.

Peng scored the first goal of the match in the 42nd minute Melyu Llang doubled the lead for the Chinese side in the 55th minute. Peng scored her second in the 66th minute to seal the victory for her side.

Meanwhile, the match between United States and Argentina ended in a 2-2 draw.

American Katie Reinprecht put United States in the lead in the 27th minute but Argentinian Slivina D’Elia  equalized for her side. The Argentine veteran Luciana Aymar gave her side the lead in the 61st minute but Kelsey Kolojejchick equalized for the United States two minutes.
