KARACHI: Governor of Sindh late Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui laid to rest with state honours at Karachi’s Gizri graveyard on Friday in presence of relatives, political leaders and government officials, ARY News reported.

The funeral prayers of late Sindh governor, earlier offered at Governor House in Karachi. Maulana Taqi Usmani led the funeral prayers.

Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Acting Governor of Sindh Agha Siraj Durrani, Federal Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch, Senator Nihal Hashmi, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, Corps Commander Karachi, Director General Rangers, a large number of lawyers, political and civil society figures attended funeral prayers.

The mortal remains of late Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui brought to Gizri graveyard. A contingent of Pakistan Navy offered salute to the late governor, who laid to rest with state honours.

Sindh governor Justice (retd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui passed away in Karachi at the age of 79 on Wednesday.

Sindh Government had announced a day of mourning on the death of the governor on Thursday (yesterday).

Justice Siddiqui had sworn in as the 31st Governor of Sindh on November 11, 2016. He replaced Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad who held the office for almost fourteen years.

Siddiqui fell ill soon after taking oath of the Governor’s office and remained hospitalized for around one month.
