Govt approves system for re-verification of CNICs

Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday approved the system for re-verification of computerized national identity cards (CNICs) across the country, ARY News reported.

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will scrutinize the CNICs of tens of millions of Pakistanis, which was also assented to by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan today.

The registration authority will send details of all members to the head of family though a sms. The family head will verify that said persons are part of his family using given options.

He will also point out if a stranger is listed in the Nadra record as his family member.

Nadra will make 10,000 calls and send 300,000 text messages to citizens on daily basis for the re-verification of CNICs, according to the minister.

The government will also introduce a helpline and form special telecentres to facilitate people in this regard. Citizens will be able to inform about a person with suspected identity card at these centers.
