Govt does not plan to restrict NAB: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday that federal government did not plan to restrict the powers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), ARY News reported.

Speaking to media, Nisar said that NAB was formed by former president General Pervez Musharraf against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

The interior minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had advised not to threaten businessmen after receiving their complaints of being harassed by the officials of the investigation body.

Nisar said that the government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was the only one regime in the world which made corruption even in Hajj. He said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution and Islamabad Airport scams took place in the regime of PPP.

He also said that the independent investigations carried out into the scams by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) without interference or influence of the government. He added that the federal government is ready to give a brief all the political parties of the countries regarding the scams.

The interior minister said that PPP is trying to save Dr. Asim Hussain by accusing FIA of exceeding its limits.
