Govt, opposition agree on bringing joint ToRs for Panama Papers probe

The opposition and the government have agreed to formulate joint ToRs to hash out the matter.

Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Hasil Bizenjo met Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah.

The government committee will be led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. While opposition will despatch names of its committee members to the government on Wednesday.

They will deliberate upon devising joint ToRs on the matter.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hadpledged to resign if a probe related to the Panama Papers tax scandal found his family had committed any wrongdoing.

Three of Sharif’s children were named in a vast leak of documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca this month that has revealed how the wealthy hide their money.

The premier has announced a probe into the revelations contained in the Panama Papers, which claim his children owned London property through an offshore company.
