Addressing a meeting of Nadra officials here, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan clarified that Nadra and corruption cannot go together for it will defame the country.
Ordering to re-verify the computerized national identity cards (CNICs) of all the citizens, he directed officials to devise a strategy in this regard within 48 hours. The minister directed them to take emergency measures in order to deal with the situation, adding, “We have to finish in days, what requires years to accomplish”.
“This is an emergency situation and we are to convey a message to the world that no fake NICs are issued in Pakistan,” he asserted. “And that acquiring an identity in Pakistan is not easy”.
It is pertinent to note here Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour, who was purportedly killed in a US drone strike in Balochistan on May 21, carried a fake CNIC in the name of Wali Muhammad.
