Ministry of Religious Affairs in a letter written to all provincial governments has said that 432 religious seminaries have been registered under the Madaris Reforms Scheme in the country. The objective of the scheme is to facilitate the registered seminaries wherein 2199 teachers are working at primary, secondary and higher secondary levels to integrate religious education with the mainstream education system.
The ministry has decided to pay the salaries of Rs 3000, Rs 4000 and Rs 5000 per month to the teachers working at primary, secondary and higher secondary level respectively, the letter said.
The religious ministry has decided to have on ground verification of the position of the registered seminaries and number of the teachers imparting education there before disbursing the amount.
The ministry, however, would only pay salaries of the teachers, after verification from the district governments, the letter said.
