This information was given at a meeting held in Karachi with Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui in the chair on Saturday. The meeting reviewed measures for early implementation of the project.

He asked the officials concerned to expedite the pace of work and also ensure absolute compliance of the approved plan.

Construction of one portion of the mega Lyari Expressway project has been halted due to dearth of funds and resettlement of slums on the project route.

The Lyari Expressway Project is a joint project of the federal and provincial governments and spread over 464 acres with a total length of 38 kilometres.

The number of families living on both banks of the Lyari River in the area was 14,811 and it was approved that each affected family unit would get 80 square yards residential plot and Rs50,000 as facilitation money.
