ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided to take back its decision of reducing gas prices for the industrial sector, ARY News reports on Friday.

It is pertinent to mention that the government had last month announced 33 percent reduction in gas prices for industries.

According to the government sources, Punjab industries are facing problems due to the difference in prices of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) systems.

The decision of the reduction was withdrawn by Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Now the government has decided to reduce gas tariff by Rs. 213 per million British thermal units (MmBTU) for the energy sector.

The  Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and power plants will be supplied gas at the cost of Rs. 400 (MmBTU).
