Happy Birthday Atif! The man who gave us melodious hits from Aadat to Jeena, rising from the Pakistani music industry to lending his soulful voice to Bollywood films, Atif has done it all. And that’s not all, the Aadat singer has promised his fans a ‘gift’ on his birthday; most possibly a new song!
An uncanny fact that most of you might not know about Atif (excluding all his die hard fans) is that he initially wanted to become a cricketer and was quite good at the sport too! However, at the urging of his friends, Aslam started singing in college competitions which he started winning. Through a process of immense hard work, dedication and commitment, Atif managed to put together a group called Jal. However, before the band’s first album release, owing to professional differences, they split with each other and Atif pursued a solo career in the industry. His debut album Jalpari became an overnight sensation as it featured, among impressive hits, his sensational song Aadat. Atif rose to prominence and his song Aadat was seen as a masterpiece. Other hits from the album such as Ehsaas, Bheegi Yaaden, Mahi Ve also propelled him to much faim and critical acclaim. Atif wasn’t from a family that had a musical background, which worked to his advantage. The youth of Pakistan connected with his energy, passion, raw talent and mesmerizing soulful voice.
Atif also starred in Shoaib Mansoor’s hit film Bol back in 2011. His role as a liberal Muslim musician was very well enacted and won him praise as well. Atif established himself as one of the most popular singers in Bollywood with multiple hits such as Pehli Nazar, Bakhuda, Piya O Re Piya and Tere Bin.
Atif recently released his new song along with a music video, titled Jeena. The song was for the movie Badlahpur starring Varun Dhawan and instantly became a hit. It remains to be seen how Atif’s birthday gift to his fans is received yet we have a feeling anything from this musical maestro is bound to enchant his fan base!
