Hashmi announces resignation from NA seat

ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly and disgruntled PTI leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi announced on Tuesday that he is resigning from his seat in the National Assembly with a will, ARY News reported.

“I had submitted my resignation earlier to the speaker. Now I formally announce my resignation. I am now going back to the people of Pakistan,”  he said while speaking in a joint session of the parliament after making surprise entry into the sitting.

He claimed none of the PTI members had submitted their resignations happily.

He said Imran Khan acknowledges the political system while Dr. Tahirul Qadri is bent on derailing the system.

“I asked Imran not to seek resignation from any of his MNA with force.” Hashmi said our political history didn’t allow us to raise our head with pride.

“I am here to give testimony. I am not emotional, but speak with emotions.” He said Nawaz Sharif was in authority for 31 years but situation of the country had not improved.  He asked why did not the prime minister visit the Senate for 14 months.

“Imran respected me the most. He listened to me carefully on all issues,” Hashmi admitted. I am still the president of PTI.

“For last four months, I had been controlling my party (PTI) people”, he claimed.

He said action should be taken against those responsible for Model Town incident. What is more incompetence than not taking action against this sheer brutality, he added.

He added that each and every member of parliament should be respected. Without directly referring his expulsion from the PTI, Hashmi said it was not new for him to leave a party.

Pakistan can only be run through constitution and parliamentary system, he added.
