HongKong: Candle Light vigil for Peshawar Victims
The Candle light vigil was led by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Hong Kong. It was held at the historic Statue Square Garden, Central Hong Kong. Hundreds of tearful Pakistanis, citizens of Hong Kong and people from diverse nationalities gathered to pay homage to the victims and condemn terrorism. A large number of children also participated to express their solidarity with school children.
The solemn ceremony commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. A minute silence was observed in memory of the victims. On this occasion, Consul General Ghufran Memon, while talking to ARY News recalled that the objective of the gathering was to express solidarity with the victims and aggrieved families. Pakistani nation stood united in its resolve to defeat those who sought to undermine, distort and destroy our faith, way of life and social fabric, the Consul General said.
The vigil concluded with special prayers for the victims, their families and the homeland.
