IHC hears plea against inflated power bills

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against inflated billing by power supply companies, ARY News reports on Friday.

The petition was heard by IHC Judge Athar Minallah.

Lawyer representing PTI’s Asad Umar, in his arguments, said that Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) violated the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) act.

He further said that the power companies increased tariffs without the permission of the power regulatory authority.

Justice Athar Minallah, in his remarks, said that the supply companies should collect tariffs according to the law.

The court ordered the power companies to file their answers in the court and sent notices to Chairman WAPDA and Water and Power Ministry.
