Imran Khan says PTI proved Prime Minister Sharif lied to nation

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday said that his party proved that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was lying to the nation during his addresses on Panamagate scandal and now his legal team would have to answer Supreme Court’s questions through evidence in the court.

Speaking to media after the court’s hearing in the federal capital, Khan said PTI has done its part in the fight against corruption and now the defendants must speak up.

He also congratulated PTI’s legal team and Naeem Bukhari for putting up a strong case against a person, who was being supported by the government and a team of ministers.

The Supreme took up the Panamagate case on Tuesday and sought answers from Sharif family regarding their offshore companies, Maryam Nawaz’s financial and legal status and about the accuracy of premier’s past speeches on the issue.

Speaking to media outside the court earlier before the hearing today, Imran Khan wished the apex court could wind-up the case on Tuesday, while PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed that the case was almost close to an end.

Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed remained confident that the top court would be able to do justice in the case; however, he also said that he would accept any verdict of the court.

PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said, “It is the responsibility of Sharif family that how a huge sum of money was transferred abroad from the country.”

Showing satisfaction on the hearing at the Supreme Court, Tehreek-i-Insaf also agreed to accept the verdict of the court in the high-profile case.
