Heavy security cordoned the airport surrounding ahead of the arrival of the PTI chief. As Imran Khan emerged out of the Karachi airport at 4.30pm, he was welcomed with loud cheers from large number of PTI supporters who were gathered at the airport to welcome their leader.
Imran had left for the rally venue at Mazar-e-Quaid taking route via Shahrah-e-Quaideen amid heavy security of police and PTI activists.
It is expected that the PTI chief will address the gathering at around 6.30pm.
It may be noted here that the Ministry of Interior has issued a letter to the Sindh government, apprising it of the possible security threat to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf public gathering at Mazar-e-Quaid.
The interior ministry said terrorist threat existed at the sit-in venue as well as other important parts of the city.
