A statement released today by ISPR said, Indian forces resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on Pakistani posts near Nezapir sector in Rawalakot during wee hours on Tuesday.

The exchange of fire went sporadically throughout the night in the area along the line of control (LoC) and ended by 10 am in the morning today, said ISPR.

The statement said Pakistani troops responded suitably following which Indian guns were made silent.

Due to firing and shelling from the Indian side of the border, at least three houses along the LoC were damaged, said ISPR.

No casualties or damage to Pakistani troops was reported until the last information came in, the ISPR statement added.

Regardless of a border truce accord between Pakistan and India signed in the year 2003, cross-border firing incidents along the line of control is intermittent with both the neighbours accusing the other regularly of violating it.
