Medium range Barak-8 missile (MR-SAM), was fired from a mobile launcher in Chandipur’s Integrated Test Range (ITR), an official of Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said.
“The test launch at 8:15 am in the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur was a success and it met all parameters,” he said.
“The missile will provide the users with the capability to neutralise any aerial threats,” official said.
The missile includes a Multi Functional Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar (MF STAR) system for detection, tracking and guidance, officials said.
The four-metre-long ballistic missile has a range of 70 kilometres to hit a target and can carry a payload of 60 kilograms.
India’s DRDO has developed the missile in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
