The actor was sent to jail after being found guilty of possessing weapons during the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

Indian media citing sources said that Sanjay Dutt’s sentence is being reduced due to the actor’s good behavior.

He was to be released later this year but his jail term has been slashed and the actor will be out of the prison next month.

Ex-Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju had filed a petition in 2014 seeking the actor’s pardon. Governor Vidyasagar Rao, rejecting the petition, stated that the pardoning the actor would set a bad example as he was convicted by the country’s highest court.

Sanjay Dutt was cleared of charges in 1993 Mumbai blasts but weapons were found from his possession after which the court sentenced him to six years in prison.

The Munnabhai series star spent 18 months in jail but was released after posting bail. However, he was again jailed by a court in March 2013.
