Indian media infuriated over Pakistan’s victory celebration

BHUBANESWAR: The stunning victory of Pakistan against India in the Champions Trophy’s semi final at the latter’s home soil sent shock waves among the Indian camp, who vent their frustration and anger by objecting to the celebration gestures of Pakistan players after the triumph.

According to the Indian media, Pakistani players hurled obscene gestures towards Indian fans and media after their win over India.  However, sensing the unwarranted growing controversy Pakistan coach Shahnaz Sheikh apologised to the FIH for the incident.

Tournament director Wiert Doyer then spoke to Pakistani camp and said International Hockey Federation (FIH) has accepted their apology.

The Indian media report stated: “Soon after their 4-3 win, Pakistani players went into a frenzy mode and started celebrating their victory in a wild fashion. They started dancing in jubilation. They removed their shirts, used foul language and made obscene gestures towards the crowd and media.”

India captain Sardar Singh also denounced winners’ celebration style.
