17 injured in New Year celebratory gunfire in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 17 people were injured in celebratory gunfire on New Year night in Karachi, ARY News reported.

Hordes of trigger-happy youngsters took to the streets riding motorbikes and vehicles on New Year’s Eve to celebrate the occasion and resorted to aerial firing in different parts of the city, leaving 17 people injured.

The firing incidents were reported in Ranchore Line, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Lines Area, PIB Colony, Old City Area, Defence, Clifton and Saddar.

According to reports, police could not arrest any person violating the section-144 across city.

While in Lahore and Multan, police didn’t demonstrate any patience towards the violators and arrested 24 youngsters for firing and seized their weapons.
