Iqbal meets Pakistani scientist Mavalvala, praises achievements

Dr. Nergis Mavalvala, an astrophysicist of Pakistani origin, was a team member of several scientists who observed ripples in gravitational waves. Her observation confirms Albert Einstein’s prediction of the theory of relativity and opens a new window on the cosmos.

The federal minister congratulated the scientist on her achievement.

Iqbal and Mavalvala discussed Pakistan’s chances for collaboration with the esteemed technological institute in the field of science and technology. They also talked upon Pakistan’s capacity to build a state-of-the-art university in the country.

He also called on Bill Aulet, Managing Director of the Martin Trust Centre for MIT Entrepreneurship.

The director of the trust centre presented his book to the planning and development minister and talked on ideas for promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistani high education institutes for making the youth become job creators instead of being job seekers.

Iqbal met Professor Richard Lester and informed him of initiating a campaign on quality innovation and productivity in Pakistan in order to make the country a competitive economy.

Ahsan Iqbal is currently in the United States.
