Iranian foreign minister arrives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday evening reached Islamabad on his visit to Pakistan to discuss Yemen issue, ARY News reported.

According to details, senior officials of the Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan received the Iranian foreign minister upon his arrival at Islamabad airport.

Our correspondent told that Zarif will initially hold a meeting with PM’s Aide on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz.

It was further said that a meeting of the Iranian minister with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is also scheduled.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, in his meetings with Pakistani leadership, will discuss the situation in Yemen and Pakistan’s role regarding the issue.

The visit is of critical importance as the Saudi government has already requested Pakistan for joining the coalition against rebels in Yemen, whereas on the other hand Pakistan is also weighing its ties with neighboring Iran and the will of the people home.

A session of the Pakistani Parliament is also underway to debate on issue and to decide about nature of Pakistan’s role in that.
