Islamic State claims responsibility of shooting on U.S. blasphemous cartoon event

DALLAS: Islamic State (IS) also known as Daesh has claimed responsibility for the shooting at the blasphemous caricatures event in Dallas which left two of its gunmen shot dead, ARY News reports on Tuesday.

According to a U.S. media agency, Daesh claimed responsibility of the attack on a radio channel and have warned of future attacks as well.

It should be noted that the militant group has claimed responsibility in the attack on the event organized on American soil. The terrorist organization is also widely known for its anti-West stance.

Two gunmen, identified by the state authorities as Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, opened fire at the blasphemous caricatures event organized by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. Both attackers were gunned down by the authorities whereas a police officer was injured during the exchange of fire.

However, no further details are reported.

Earlier, 12 staff members of French cartoon magazine Charlie Hebdo were killed in a gun attack in Paris in response to the blasphemous cartoon printed by the publishing company.
