JI seeks PTI support in NA-246 by-polls

LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami (JI) on Wednesday demanded Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to withdraw Imran Ismail from NA-246 Karachi in favor of its candidate Rashid Naseem, ARY News reported.

Talking to media here, JI secretary general, Liaquat Baloch said that ‘his party exposed the real face of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) before the people, first of all’ and this why Jamaat Islami has got much right of contesting the Karachi by-election than PTI.

He said that yesterday a meeting was held with PTI leader, Arif Alvi in order to garner PTI’s support in favor of JI candidate in NA-246 by-election.

Baloch further said that the JI emir Siraj ul Haq will also hold a rally at Karachi’s Aisha Manzil on April 12 in this regard.

On the other hand, Imran Khan said PTI would try to forge alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, adding we would want JI to support PTI.

We will reach an understanding with JI for the upcoming by-polls, said Khan while holding a presser in Karachi on Wednesday evening.
