JIT formed to probe murder case against PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Authorities on Thursday formed a joint interrogation team (JIT) to probe the murder case registered against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and others by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), ARY News reported.

According to details, PAT had registered an FIR against PM Nawaz Sharif and 11 others over the killing of three PAT workers during oppression on the participants of the Inqilab March in Islamabad.

Authorities on Thursday formed a JIT to investigate the murder case, which was registered a few days ago.

The JIT will be headed by the SP Saddar and comprise of members of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

The case was registered on September 16 at Secretariat police station in Islamabad after a district & sessions judge had ordered framing of murder charges against the PM and others over the killing of protesters.

Those nominated in the case are Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Defense Minister Khwaja Asif and Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), led by Dr. Tahirul Qadri, had approached the court for registering of case.
