JIT seeks statement of Minhaj ul Quran official

LAHORE: The newly formed joint investigation team (JIT) on the Model Town incident served a notice to the Director Administration of Minhaj ul Quran, Jawwad Hamid to record his statement for the investigations of the event, ARY News reported.

Sources told that Jawwad Hamid is the plaintiff in the Model Town incident case, due to which the JIT asked him to record his statement to assist the investigations of the bloody event.

On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Minhajul Quran, Noorullah Siddiqui said that they have not received any notice by the joint investigation team.

Meanwhile, Jawwad Hamid also said that he does not have trust in the JIT formed by the government.

On June 17, furious clashes had taken place between the Punjab Police and the workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

During the standoff which had lasted for almost 11 hours, 11 PAT workers were killed and ninety were injured as a result of police gunfire.
