JUP leader escapes assassination attempt in Karachi

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) Noorani group leader Aqeel Anjum Saturday escaped an assassination attempt on him in Karachi, ARY News reported.

The echo of Amjad Sabri’s killing was not yet faded that a religious figure came under attack in the megapolis on Saturday. Four armed assailants riding on two motorbikes opened fire on the vehicle of Anjum in Korangi area as he entered into the alley leading to his residence.

The driver timely sensed danger and sped up the car.

Aqeel Anjum told that two of the attackers wore helmets and they fired upon nearing his vehicle. Police have not yet lodged a case.

On the other hand, the killers of Amjad Sabri are still at large despite four days have passed since he was brutally assassinated in Liaquatabad area of Karachi.

Police have apprehended two suspects in connection with the killing, while Sabri’s fellow Slaeem Chanda was also taken into protective custody who was with him at the time of incident.
