Kapil Sharma edges out Salman Khan in ‘Most Loved TV Character’ ratings

Okay, we knew Kapil Sharma is a renowned Indian celebrity and has a vast legion of fans. However, beating out Salman Khan in a survey is next-level popularity, so to speak! In a recent survey conducted for India’s most loved TV character, Kapil came in first, followed in by Dabangg actor Salman Khan.

According to an entertainment media, Ormax Media had conducted a survey to find out who was India’s most loved TV celebrity (non-fiction) for the month of January, 2016. 3500 people across 14 cities of India were asked as to who was their favourite TV character. When results came pouring in, they spelled good news for the Indian comedian as Kapil came first in the list, followed in closely by Salman Khan in second place. Salman hosts the popular Indian reality television series Bigg Boss, with its season 9 just concluding a couple of weeks earlier.

Kapil Sharma rose to fame and prominence with his hit comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil. With various celebrities such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and a host of other celebrities as well. However, Kapil Sharma quit the show (which aired on Colors TV) after differences started to crop up between him and Colors TV management. It was rumours were doing the rounds a couple of days earlier that Kapil Sharma would be back with another hit TV show titled Comedy Style.

Prince Narula came in third while Sunil Grover secured the fourth place. Mandana Karimi secured the fifth place.

Kapil Sharma might have disappeared from TV screens for the time being but he certainly hasn’t been forgotten by the Indian people. Beating out Salman Khan in a fan survey, now that’s something!
