Karachi administration orders measures to stem dengue

KARACHI: The city administration has declared ‘dengue emergency’ to combat the increasing cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever in the metropolis.

The authorities has also issued directions to the officials that any place posing danger to human life because of the disease should immediately me sealed.

Spokesperson of Commissioner Karachi said a notification had been issued to relevant departments to take measures against spread of the disease.

The notification also ordered expediting measures to treat dengue patients.

Earlier, Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was briefed about the measures being taken by different departments in the metropolis. The meeting decided to examine all tyre shops, swimming pools and other places. The deputy commissioners of the six districts of Karachi would oversee the exercise.
