Karachi: ASI killed, two injured in gunmen ambush

KARACHI: An assistant sub-inspector of police and two personnel were injured in firing by unidentified armed men on police van on Friday morning near Lines Area, ARY News reported.

The police mobile came under attack when it was en route to Saddar, Empress Market from Lines Area road. Armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the van, leading to instant death of the ASI and wounding two others. The attackers managed to flee from the scene.

The deceased ASI was identified as Arshad Tanoli. While one of the constables Ghulam Ali was said to be in a critical condition.

Rangers and police reached the spot after the incident and cordoned off the area for investigation.

In another attack near Tibet Centre in small hours of the day, four police officers were wounded.

Miscreants accosted the police van, lobbed a cracker and fled. Four cops were wounded in the attack. The injured personnel were shifted to a hospital. No casualty was reported in the incident.
