Three to four robbers barged into a house in Jauhar area and held the family members hostage on gun point. However, police soon received information about the robbery and rushed to the site.
As soon the law enforcers reached the locality, exchange of gunfire ensued between the robbers and the police. One dacoit was killed in encounter with police while a constable lost his life.

SHO Gulistan-e-Jauhar and assistant sub-inspector also sustained wounds in the encounter. They were moved to a nearby hospital.
According to ARY News correspondent, exchange of fire between criminals and police continued for at least an hour. Three robbers managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the dark amid aerial firing.
SP Gulshan ABid QaimKhani said area had been cordoned off and additional police contingent was deployed at Kamran Chowrani and other adjoining areas to arrest the culprits.
