Karachi faces second power breakdown in a day, KE official denies

KARACHI: Power supply to 40 percent of Karachi was suspended for second time in a day following the tripping of K-Electric’s high-tension wire on Friday evening, ARY News reported.

The major parts of Karachi had plunged into darkness on late Thursday night after a 500 KV transmission line tripped in Jamshoro. The affected areas include Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B. Area, Saddar, Garden, North Karachi, North Nazimabad and other adjoining localities.

However, an official of K-Electric said that “there is no power disruption in the city” and all areas are getting proper supply.

The official Twitter account of K-Electric was stormed with complaints over sudden power breakdowns. Initially, the power utility did not give any timeframe for power restoration to the affected areas, prompting rage of the complainants.

After about eight hours, the electricity gradually started to restore in different parts of the city.

However, this evening saw another power breakdown due to the tripping of high tension wire.
