KARACHI: Four members of banned outfits killed in separate encounters

According to details, law enforcement agencies sprung into action and conducted two separate raids in the city’s Manghopir and Mahmudabad areas. Police raided a place at Mahmudabad on information provided by intelligence agencies when the suspect opened fire. Police retailiated and two terrorists were killed in the resulting exchange. Police obtained a suicide bomb vest, hand grenade and weapons from the killed suspects.

In Manghopir, suspects attacked a police mobile with a hand grenade. Soon, a gun battle ensued between police and militants, resulting in two members of the banned outfit getting killed. The deceased were identified as Zayn-ud-Din Mahsood and Murtaza who were both members of the outlawed outfit Jundullah.

Both suspects were wanted for the murder of police officials and attacks on security forces. According to police, both terrorists were arrested on January 2010 and managed to escape on January 19, 2010 from the City Court. The militants were rescued by their accomplices, who had attacked police officials.
