Karachi Local Govt Polls: Nominations scrutiny finalizes today

KARACHI: The election commission will finalize scrutiny of the nomination papers for local government election in six districts of Karachi on Tuesday (today).

According to ARY News, the election commission has received more than 1800 nomination papers of the candidates for 1520 seats of the local councils in Karachi. In Malir district of the city only 37 candidates have submitted their nomination papers.

In southern district of metropolis the election commission has received 170 nomination papers for 155 local council seats.

The commission received 112 nomination papers for chairman and vice chairman seats, while in district east 29 candidates submitted nomination papers for 13 union councils.

The local bodies elections will be held in Karachi on December 3.

The final list of the candidates for third phase of the local government polls in Sindh and Punjab will be released on the 17th of next month.

Twelve districts of Punjab will go for the local government elections in the third phase to fill the seats of Chairman, Vice Chairman and general members. The elections will be held in Layyah, Rajanpur, D.G. Khan, Muzzafargarh, Jhang, Khushab, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Rahim Yaar Khan, Bahwalpur and Multan.

In Sindh, the Local Bodies polls will be held in Karachi West, Karachi East, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Korangi and Malir districts on 3rd December this year.
