KARACHI: Police on Sunday midnight closed the roads leading to Karachi’s main traffic artery M.A. Jinnah, with containers for the security of the mourning processions on 8, 9 and 10 of Muharram, ARY News reported on Monday.
The city’s central mourning procession will pass through the route of M.A. Jinnah Road to conclude at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar.
The city authorities have also sealed the shops on the route of the Muharram processions for three days due to security reasons.
The traffic flow will continue on M.A. Jinnah Road, which will completely halted ahead of the arrival of the procession. The traffic will be diverted to an alternate route, announced by the traffic police.
Stringent security measures have been taken for the security of the mourning processions and to avoid any untoward incident.
Local authorities have enforced a ban on pillion riding on motorcycles in the city from Saturday evening till Thursday.
